A LITTLE ABOUT US
We are currently registered with Alliance of Therapy Dogs, formally Therapy Dogs, Inc.
Auggie and I are also a retired Certified Crisis Response Canine Team
Our journey to becoming a Therapy Dog Team started with completing a pre-screening required to register for the course through West Michigan Therapy Dogs, Inc. We started by taking an 8 week (16 hours) Introduction to Pet Therapy course and after completing the course we went on to pass the West Michigan Therapy Dogs, Inc. evaluation test and three shadowing visits that are required prior to obtaining full membership in WMTD. Team Auggie then decided to obtain a higher level of registration with Pet Partners/Delta Society and completed an online course, an animal health screening, our team was evaluated and tested and finally we became registered team!
We have weekly visits at- Assisted living center where we have a group visit
Nursing home/rehab center
Nursing home that has a special memory wing.
Auggie also likes to help out volunteering for other special events that come up. We have participated in the Ruff Reader Program, Doc Days, Dog Days in the Park, Camp Hope, and a classroom with some wonderful kids with ASD. One of his favorite things to do (not mine) is speaking to groups about what it's like being a therapy dog and spreading the "magic of fur".
